Dean has worked in the photography industry since he was a teenager, working in a camera shop darkroom from 16.
He soon discovered his love for sports and news photography, and would spend the majority of his career working for agencies and newspapers. He started his first agency job with Muscrofts in 1989, where he would begin to flourish as a news photographer, and hone his craft.
He moved to Ross Parry in 1992, spending three years here before becoming a staff photographer for Sheffield Newspapers.Eventually becoming the deputy picture editor, Dean would stay here for nearly 2 decades, before redundancy forced him away from the world of news, and into the world of freelance, starting Dean Atkins Photography in January 2014.
Dean Atkins Photography has kept growing since, taking on more prestigious and high-profile clients.Â
